Winter in Utah

Well all I can say is wow! What a change from San Diego. Just a few minutes ago it was hailing sideways, now I can see the sun and white clouds! I've learned that Salt Lake gets its weather from the San Francisco area most of the time. This is my first winter here and I've heard many times it's been their hardest in many moons (how many exactly, I don't know). There's been quite a few days that haven't gotten past 20 degrees and although I am usually an adventurous type of woman, that temperature kinda takes the fun out of things. I've wondered much more often lately what provokes those who climb the mountains of the K2 type of ranges. Well they are like 20 years younger than me (I presume) so that in itself I'm sure is part of it. Being able to say "I did it!" I am positive, will have a lifelong effect on their perseverance, decision making, and self outlook also. Have you seen that Sylvester Stallone movie, "Cliffhanger"? I really like that one. I was totally insulated in a movie theater with my large buttered popcorn, coke, candy...and a sweater.. Who wouldn't like to watch men climbing icy mountains that most of us might not ever see? But now as I talk to you in my socks and fuzzy slippers, and two layers of clothing, I think this might be as close to that movie as I ever want to get. But the little kid in me sure does want to go play in it! So, as you get on and along in your day today; whether you're in warm or cold weather, I do hope you're able to stop and take a minute to appreciate whatever nature you have around you and take the adventurous attitude with you in all you do. Do it with the knowledge that today you can do whatever you want, so might as well have fun doing it :) peace, until we talk again!
